This acclaimed biographical drama explores the life of Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi, the Indian leader who stood against British rule of his country. Dedicated to non-violent resistance, Gandhi (Ben Kingsley) is initially dismissed by officials, including the influential Lord Irwin (John Gielgud), but over time his cause gains international renown, and his gatherings of passive protest move India towards independence.
