Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre - Auditorium
A talk by Sir Robert Clerk, Penicuik Estate, Penicuik House Preservation Trust
& Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian. Purchased in 1654, the House and grounds
were designed by successive generations of the Clerk family. One of the
finest UK examples of Palladian architecture and Designed Landscapes. In
1899 the House was destroyed by fire and in 1985 a Trust was formed to
consolidate the ruin. This work continues, restoring the many unique
structures on the Estate.
